4th of July

We headed down to Homer for 4th of July weekend on Wednesday night. The weather was the best it has been all year, the kids got along wonderfully, Aunt Jenna came down to save me, and the babies were great! Thursday we went out for a boat ride across the bay and toured Gull Rock, Jakolof Bay, and Halibut Cove

Friday Uncle Jimmy took us over to Seldovia for the 4th of July festivities. We watched the log roll, the greased poll climb, toured Soldovia, wandered around the food and craft booths, the kids participated in the basketball toss, cork-guns, balloon pop game (Payton won!!!), and the greased poll climb. It was the best wholesome fun we've had in a long time and was the perfect place to celebrate the 4th with our family.

Later that afternoon Uncle Jimmy took us over to MacDonald Spit to see Uncle Pat & Aunt Susie (Jovey was there!). All three babies played inside together, the kids enjoyed exploring, and Aunt Jenna and I were able to spend some time with Aunt Susie. The kids (with the help of Steve and Jimmy) built a bonfire on the beach, roasted hot dogs, made smores, and played in the tide pools. The eagles soared overhead, dusk began to settle in, and it was time for us to pack everyone up and head back to Homer.

Saturday Steve and Uncle Jimmy went Halibut fishing and Aunt Jenna and I enjoyed the rare windless sunny day in Homer with the babies and kids. We played games, walked along the spit, the boys rode four wheelers and dirt bikes, and we enjoyed sitting around the camp fire. We all had a great 4th of July weekend.

Pictures from the rest of the trip will appear at a later date. My camera battery died Thursday night and Aunt Jenna's lasted until mid-day on the 4th!
