Chari Lake

Our good family friends, the McPheters, invited us to their cabin last weekend. They only get to visit their cabin a few nights a year and rarely invite visitors, we felt quite privileged to be extended the invitation. They raved about the cabin's calm, serene ambiance and beautiful views.

Enter the McSharry family with two teething twins.

We (the four parents) stayed up until almost two enjoying the campfire with accompanying wildlife, scenery, and adult conversation. The twins, woke up at 5AM on the dot and didn't stop screaming for four hours..............I think one or two grown-ups may have indulged in spiked coffee to try and remain sane.

I have ever been so embarrassed about my children's behavior in my life. They were awful. They were terrible. They cried, and cried, and cried.........................I think you get the picture.

The poor McPheters did not get to enjoy the serene beauty of their cabin .............heck they didn't get to enjoy a serene moment! The next time they invite visitors up north, it is safe to say said visitors will not have babies in tow!!!

Gloomy Summer Set for Infamy

"Right now the so-called summer of '08 is on pace to produce the fewest days ever recorded in which the temperature in Anchorage managed to reach 65 degrees." Anchorage Daily News

Needless to say we've been enjoying the indoors more than the outdoors this summer.

Double Backwards Action

Patrick has finally figured out how to go down the stairs. However, he hasn't quite mastered turning around at the top. Soon he will be joining his sister in racing up and down the stairs, but for now, unless someone turns him around he is still stuck watching his sister.

Exit Glacier

Hello Seward

We headed out of Anchorage Friday and settled into our Miller's Landing camp site by late afternoon. The boys launched the boat, set up camp, grilled dinner, and made a wonderful fire in the cozy woods. Saturday they were up early and headed out to catch some fish! The babies and I had an adventure of our own and explored Exit Glacier. We walked along the wharf, looked at the many boats, and explored downtown Seward. That evening we watched Daddy, Uncle Jimmy, and Gabe as they came into the harbor and tied up. They caught twelve silvers and we ate a very scrumptious dinner of freshly grilled salmon. It was sunny, there was hardly any wind, and most importantly it was warm! The guys even saw two whales right next to the boat! Sunday morning we woke up to rain and once again were glad to pack up and head home. We can't wait to have more adventures in Seward this summer:)

11 Months with Twins

Patrick and Cassidy have changed a lot this month.

They each have three teeth.........well really 2 1/2. They are getting their teeth within a few days of each other and amazingly enough the same teeth. Other twin mother's I have talked to say their children's teeth seem to come in with no correlation to the other twin (fraternals). The top right tooth has been the latest addition.

Patrick took his first steps! He stands for longer periods of time now but is still trying to figure out how to support his body weight on his own.

Cassidy is an expert stair climber-up and down. Bad mommy me, I let me children play on the stairs (supervised of course). They are entertained for long periods of time and love to rest on the landing and take window slobbering breaks. Cassidy can go up and down quite proficiently while Patrick can only go up. He then stares down forlornly as Cassidy expertly scoots back down to play on the landing. I have no doubt it is a matter of days until he too can scoot back down. Until than it is rather amusing to watch Cassidy gleefully go down just to tease her brother.

Patrick's shoe fetish is more pronounced. He loves shoes, only flat ones, and mine are his current favorites. I've been wearing heals around lately, they are the only ones left by the door. Yes, twins, two pre-teens (Payton and my nephew), the library, and heels........I've been getting a few strange glares. Patrick is very particular about how his shoes are on his hands. They have to be the opposite of how one would normally wear a pair of shoes. If you try to correct the shoes on his hands he gives you a look of disdain as if you have no idea what you are doing. He waits until you are done and then re-arranges his shoes and goes on his merry way. Clump, clump, clump, clump.

The one year mark is rapidly approaching and as Steve loves to tease me my babies will no longer be babies.

Happy Happy Happy

Doesn't every mother want a happy baby? Today I had the luxury of two happy babies! This occurrence is so rare that I can't recall ever having two very happy children in the same day. They were so much fun!!!!!

They enjoyed pulling books off the bookshelf.

Banging pots and bowls and spoons in the kitchen.
Playing on the landing and banging on the windows.Seeing all the zoo animals. And playing with more toys.
