mine, Mine, MINE!!!!!!!!!!

Payton likes to tell the twins which things are his and which are theirs. "This is mine," he'll patiently say, "Play with the ball, it is yours!" I had purposely been avoiding the use of this wonderfully possessive pronoun. Instead, I had opted for naming things, Daddy's, Payton's, Mamma's, etc. This approach seemed to work without too many fights breaking out.

Today the inevitable began, "Mine," Cassidy said, pointing to her water cup as Patrick drank out of it. "Mine," she said again, turning into a high pitched screech.

How about "Share?" You'd think she would have already figured out the downside of being a twin, nothing is really just yours. Oh well, one of these days she'll learn the inequalities in life. Until then, her world is black and white. This is mine, that is yours her little mind reasons. Poor Patrick better back off before the teeth and claws come out!

Fairbanks

Anchorage to Fairbanks, and back, with two 18 month olds, and one ornery nearly 11 year old; 720 miles and 14 hours of torture!!!! Okay, perhaps torture is a little harsh, Payton was occupied with his iPod most of the time and the babies only screamed for a small portion of the trip.

On the drive up Patrick decided he had had enough of being in the car (he'd been sitting in his car seat for 6 1/2 hours already). "All Done!" he said (and signed). Steve and I looked at each other, how do you explain to an 18 month old that we're not done until we're there? I made a feeble attempt, but Patrick kept saying more and more loudly, "ALL DONE!!!" Finally, after realizing he wasn't getting his message through, he tried a new tactic. "I Stuuk," he said pulling on his car seat harness, "I STUUUUK!!!" Eventually he gave up on the minion's who obviously couldn't understand his perfectly logical requests and broke into shrieking and screaming, Cassidy quickly followed suit. Happy, happy, joy, joy.......only an hour to go!

We arrived around 6:30 Friday night, the boys had four games total, two Saturday, and two Sunday. They tied their first game, won the second, won the third, and lost the fourth. Hopefully they'll do better in the state tournament!

We celebrated Valentine's Day in Fairbanks and had a wonderful time!

For those of you who happen to notice the lack of pictures accompanying this post, I apologize. I diligently packed the camera up to Fairbanks and back, without taking a single picture!!!

"I'm Stuck!"

Patrick has developed an odd catch phrase that is used multiple time throughout the day. "I'm Stuck," (I stuuk) he says calmly and than gets louder and much more pathetic sounding as I search the house for him. The first time I heard him say this, I thought it was an accident (I'm certainly not "stuck" frequently!), where would he have picked up this odd phrase? Now I've learned he has encountered something he cannot seem to pull off his extremities.......ie: rings that are supposed to be stacked, shoes that are too large and have straps, plastic bins, and the list goes on. How do I convince him if he can move, he isn't "stuck?"
